Liam McGeary vs Chris Fields set for Bellator 173 main event in Belfast

Bellator president Scott Coker announced to ESPN today that former Bellator Light-Heavyweight Champion Liam McGeary will face Irishman Chris Fields in the main event on 24th February 2017 in Belfast in a 205lb bout.

Former Cage Warriors 185lb champion Chris Fields (11-7-1) defeated Dan Konecke via Brabo Choke in the 1st round of his last outing at BAMMA 24 in February 2016 to break a two fight losing streak.

McGeary (11-1) suffered his first career loss in his last bout when he took on former UFC stand out and now Bellator 205lb champion Phil Davis via unanimous decision back in November 2016.

Coker also revealed to ESPN that undefeated Irish prospect James Gallagher (5-0) is expected appear on the card against a yet to be determined opponent.

Gallagher maintained his perfect record when he defeated Anthony Taylor with a Rear Naked Choke in the third round of the Bellator 169 co-main event in Dublin in December 2016.

The upcoming BAMMA 28 and Bellator 173 collaboration event will take place at the SSE Arena, Belfast on 24th February 2017 and the BAMMA portion will be headlined by Norman Parke vs Paul Redmond.
