PFL 2021 #1: Regular Season Results and Highlights

Professional Fighters League kicked off their 2021 season on Friday night at the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City. Fighters were kept isolated for over two weeks and they were finally let loose in what was and eventful night of action.

Anthony Pettis made his PFL debut against Clay Collard in the main event. Manchester’s own Brendan Loughnane went up against Sheymon Moraes in the featherweight league. Last season’s champion Lance Palmer started his defence of the 145-pound belt when he faced off against Bubba Jenkins.

Clay Collard went toe to toe with Anthony Pettis in the main event. Both fighters were hurt at various stages throughout the fight. Collard had the former UFC champ in big trouble in round two. Pettis stormed back in round three but Collard survived and prevailed on the judges scorecards to take home the win.

There was no feeling out process when former two time champion Natan Schulte took on Marcin Held in the co-main event. Schulte was left disappointed as Held got the victory by unanimous decision.

Movlid Khaybulaev almost took out Lazar Stojadinovic but the American showed great heart to hold on for the entire fight. Movlid took home the victory on the judges scorecards.

Bubba Jenkins stunned last seasons featherweight champion Lance Palmer when he won all three rounds on the judges scorecards. The defeat was Palmers first inside the PFL cage since joining their ranks in 2017.

The highlight of the night came when Brendan Loughnane took out Sheymon Moraes in super impressive fashion. It was Loughnane’s first fight since NYE in 2019 and the Manchester man made a huge statement in the featherweight division. Brendan picked up 6 points and that guarantees him a playoff spot and he moves a step closer to that $1 million dollar prize.

Raush Manfio and Joilton Lutterbach battled all three round with Manfio getting his hands raised in the lightweight division.

Akhmet Aliev suplexed his way to a win on the judges scorecards when he beat Mikhail Odintsov in the lightweight division.

Chris Wade dropped down a weight to the featherweight division and picked up a decision win over Anthony Dizy.

Tyler Diamond and Jo Sung Bin fought in an extremely exciting contest with Diamond coming out on top on the judges scorecards.
