UFC 302 – Severe MMA Staff Predictions

It’s now or never for Dustin Poirier, and on Saturday night “The Diamond” has the opportunity to shine brighter than ever before. In the main event of UFC 302 in Newark, New Jersey, the former UFC interim title holder attempts—likely for the final time—to become the undisputed UFC Lightweight Champion of the world.

While it would be a fairytale ending for a fighter who has parted with chunks of his body and soul each time he enters the fray, the current reigning 155lbs king, Islam Makhachev, is the P4P no.1 in the sport.

Fresh off of dusting Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski in the first round of their UFC 294 rematch, Makhachev can take one step further forward out of the shadows of his predecessor, friend, and mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, should he put away perennial UFC contender Poirier.
