Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis on tap for UFC on FOX 2

ESPN.com are reporting that Rashad Evans (16-1-1) vs Phil Davis (9-0) will finally happen and has been pencilled in for 28th January.

It is rumoured to main event the UFC on FOX 2 card which is expected to take place at the United Center in Chicago.

This is the second attempt at this match up, they were meant to square off at UFC 133 , but Dana White pulled Phil Davis out of the fight due to a serious knee injury.

Rashad Evans has been the number 1 contender for a long time now and is on an impressive 3 fight winning streak, having beaten Rampage Jackson and Thiago Silva, since his only career loss to Lyoto Machida. He has been sidelined with a hand injury since breaking it against Tito Ortiz.

Phil Davis is 4-0 in the UFC with his latest and possibly biggest win coming against Lil Nog in March. Other notable wins for Davis include Brian Stann and Alexander Gustafsson.

If Davis can beat Rashad, he would surely book himself the Jon ‘Bones’ Jones match up that fans were calling  for when both Jones and Davis were rising up the light heavyweight division last year.
