Report: ‘The Dean Of Mean’ to return against Luke Rockhold for title

Keith Jardine (17-9-2) will be back in action as a Strikeforce middleweight on Jan. 7, Sherdog.com confirmed with a source close to the fighter on Thursday. MMAfighting are also reporting that he will face Luke Rockhold (8-1) for the Strikeforce Middleweight championship

Little is currently known about the Jan. 7 card, save for its planned location. Earlier this week, Sherdog.com confirmed with the Nevada State Athletic Commission that Zuffa has requested permission to hold the event at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Jardine’s opponent remains a mystery at this time.

Jardine, 36, made his Strikeforce debut in April, fighting Gegard Mousasi to a majority draw at Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Daley.” The Jackson’s MMA representative competed in the UFC as a light heavyweight from 2005 to 2010, posting a 6-7 record during his time in the Octagon.
