Scottish fighter Steven ‘Stevie’ Ray talks trying out for TUF

Steven ‘Stevie’ Ray (8-2) recently participated in the TUF 15 open tryouts. The Ultimate Fighter 15 will feature Welterweight fighters. UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and number one contender Urijah Faber have been confirmed as rival coaches for TUF season 15, with the first episode due to air in early March.

“I dominated my opponent in the grappling test. And in the striking test, Joe Silva (UFC matchmaker) stopped me within a minute and said he’d seen enough.” said Ray

“That got me through to the interview stage and as I was leaving the guy said it has been a fantastic interview. I hope I’ve done enough to make it onto the show.”

Hoping to be the first Scot to make it into the The Ultimate Fighter house, Ray turned up for the trials with a Saltire dyed into his hair.

He was one of 200 welterweights at the trials, with around half of those making it to the interview stage.

The final contestants are chosen once UFC president Dana White has reviewed the interview tapes.
