Hendo injured; UFC 151 cancelled; Jones refuses to fight Sonnen

UFC 151 has been cancelled. Fans who bought tickets for the old UFC 151 will be refunded.

Number 1 contender Dan ‘Hendo’ Henderson has injured his knee in training and has been forced to pulled out of the UFC 151 main event against Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.

UFC president Dana White announced the bad news during a special announcement media call moments ago.

According to Dana White, Hendo has a partial tear of his MCL in his knee.

Chael Sonnen had agreed to step in on 8 days notices to fight even offering ‘Bones’ his full fight purse but Jon Jones turned down the fight, leaving White irrate

Dana went on to call Greg Jackson “a fucking sport killer” and stated that Jackson is “from another planet.”

Dana wasn’t finished there, he continued “good for you Jon Jones that you have money but there’s a bunch of guys that needed to fight to feed their families.”

“I can’t make you fight. You’re either a fighter or you’re not.”

UFC 151: Jon Jones vs Lyoto Machida will now take place in Toronto on 22nd September.

“If Jon refuses to fight Lyoto he’ll have an even worse conference call later today.”

Dana went on to say that this one of the most selfish, disgusting decisions he’s ever seen.

“UFC 152 on September 22 will remain named UFC 152. UFC 151 will simply not happen.” – @UFC

UPDATE:

Dan Henderson posted a message to the fans on his facebook page moments ago saying

“Sadly and unfortunately, I partially tore a ligament in my knee in training. As a result I’ve had to make one of the toughest decisions that I have ever had to make…for the first time in my career I am forced to pull out of a fight, my fight with Jon Jones at UFC 151. Luckily, surgery is not needed at this time and I will be completely devoted to rehabing my knee as quickly as possible. I fee

l that I owe it to my fans and all the people supporting me to fight at my full potential in order to give myself a chance to win the UFC title. I appreciate the loyal support that I have felt from my fans. I want to thank all of my coaches and team of guys for the great support with my training camp. Most importantly, I appreciate their honesty when I needed them the most to make this very difficult decision. I also want to thank Dana and Lorenzo for being so understanding and supportive. I will continue to pursue the UFC belt with all of my heart!”
