Celtic Gladiator try to change Lobov win to NC; Sherdog upholds original decision

Celtic Gladiator have tried to overturn Artem Lobov’s majority decision victory over Artur Sowinski last month at Celtic Gladiator in Dublin, Ireland into a No Contest

Artur Sowinski’s camp had lodged an official complaint about the result earlier last week.

Cage Gladiator’s released this statement

“I the undersigned co-owner of Celtic Gladiator, Piotr Perucki, wishes to declare that on 22nd September of this year, I was negligent in the selection of Judges, in relation to one of the main event fights between Artem Lobov and Arthur Sowiński .

One of the Judge’s was from the same club as Artem Lobov, where they train together and are closely connected. This type of situation should not have happened and for this I wish to apologise to the fighters and clubs. The only excuse I can give is that one hour before the event one of the original judges, Richard Gorey, withdrew from the judging panel.

Therefore, under great stress and pressure I made the wrong decision in selecting a replacement judge.
I know how much of a problem this has caused and because of this I made the decision to leave my position in this company.

In agreement with co-owner, Mariusz, we have decided to announce that the fight held on the 22nd September, 2012 between Artem Lobov and Arthur Sowiński – NO CONTEST.

The Celtic Gladiator Company expresses the desire to organize another fight between these fighters in Ireland with the new judging panel.

The Board of Celtic Gladiator”

However the “official” fight finder over at Sherdog.com has reviewed the facts and upheld the original decision, a win for “The Prospect Killer” Artem Lobov

SBG Ireland released this statement via Boards.ie

“After reviewing the entire situation and having access to all the facts Sherdog have upheld the original decision, and of course there opinion is all that matters.

As for future shows SBG will never be involved with Celtic gladiator again. there last show was a disaster, with the wrongful attempt at getting the judges decision reversed only the ‘icing on the cake’. In summary

– teen fights been put on. when the 2 official refs rightly refused to ref this fight they basically went around asking anyone to step up and take care of it
– ‘k1’ fights been put on…its an mma show. one of those fights had to very cancelled as a fighter had been knocked out last week.
– terrible match making. if u have an eye for mma you can tell when its not just an early win but rather a novice in with an experienced fighter.
– no water for fighters, no wrap checks, no cutmen, a fight cancelled due to a ‘no show’
– long delays
– from having spoken directly to a number of the officials most of them have said they will have nothing to do with future shows.
– most of the established gyms i know won’t be providing fighters”

Artem Lobov has expressed interested in a rematch with Sowinski saying via facebook

“I am happy to have a rematch with Artur Sowinski, but its not going to happen on a mickey mouse show.”

Maybe we could see a rematch in Cage Contender, Cage Warriors or KSW in the near future

Here is the fight in question below, judge for yourself
