The much anticipated UFC middleweight title fight between Vitor Belfort and Chris Weidman is back on after the bout had been initially postponed due to an injury to Weidman. The 185 lbs title tilt is now slated to co-headline UFC 187 in Las Vegas on May 23rd in a show which also features Jon Jones taking on Anthony Johnson for the light-heavyweight strap and Donald Cerrone fighting highly touted prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov. The news was broken on UFC Tonight.

Weidman has been champion since defeating long-time king Anderson Silva twice in 2013. The American again defended his title late last year in a closely fought decision win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 175.

Belfort, though, was expected to be his toughest test yet after demolishing the likes of Dan Henderson, Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping on his way to the title shot.

Weidman was initially set to meet Belfort in May of 2014 at UFC 173 but the Brazilian was forced to pull out of the fight after the Nevada State Athletic Commission banned testosterone-replacement therapy, for which Belfort had an exemption.

Then, the bout was set for February 28th of this year but this time Weidman fell out with a rib injury weeks before the scheduled date.

Now, they will finally (hopefully) meet at UFC 187 on May 23rd is what looks set to be a blockbuster of a card.
