It’s bad news this evening for MMA fans as Brock Lesnar has announced on ESPN’s SportsCentre his intention to re-sign with the World Wrestling Entertainment, thus ending any hopes (in the near future at least) of a return to MMA.

Lesnar is a former NCAA amateur wrestling champion who made his way to the WWE after college. From there, Lesnar had a glittering career before turning his attention to MMA where he became UFC champion in his 4th bout – beating Randy Couture.

Lesnar went on to defend his title twice but stomach issues caused him serious problems as he his lost title to Cain Velasquez and thus a number one contender fight with Alistair Overeem before deciding to hang up his MMA gloves and return to professional wrestling.

Now, as Lesnar prepares to defend his WWE title at Wrestlemania this Sunday, it looks like those MMA gloves might be hung up for good.
