UFC 186 – Johnson vs. Horiguchi Kountermove Preview

The Bell Centre is Montreal, Quebec, Canada is this week’s host venue as UFC 186 goes down in the country once thought of as the Mecca for MMA events. Unfortunately for Canadian MMA fans, recent events in the country haven’t been the best and Saturday night, despite plenty of good fights, is not near living up to past glories either. Nevertheless what we do have is a title headliner and plenty of name fighters which is always a good sign for Kountermove fantasy MMA practitioners.

As always in fantasy MMA, the main event needs much consideration but this week I think it might be best avoided. Demetrious Johnson is a clear favourite but at 5700 I think he might be a little on the high side while Kyoji Horiguchi at 4800 isn’t a wise pick either. The co-main, though, is a different story with a knockout possible and both Rampage (5000) and Maldonado (4600) reasonable priced.

After that I think Patrick Cote (4900) or Thomas Alweida (5200) would be good anchors for your team while the womens’ fights of Alexis Davis (4500) vs. Sarah Kaufman (5100) and Aisling Daly (4800) vs. Randa Markos (4800) should both be close. Valerie LeTourneau is probably the one I’d avoid this week at 5200 with Jessica Rakoczy always capable of an upset while my pick of the week is Michael Bisping (5100) who lands with huge output and is in a favourable styles match up.
