Holly Holm would fight Cris Cyborg ‘in a heartbeat’

Holm

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm has made it perfectly clear that she wants to fight again sooner rather than later, and why shouldn’t she? It’s wrong to hold up an entire division based solely upon a single competitor and “The Preacher’s Daughter” has the right to earn another pay cheque whilst she waits out a rematch with Ronda Rousey.

One of “Rowdy”‘s most hyped potential challengers is of course Cris Cyborg, but now Holm wears that belt around her hips, she is readying herself for the chance to meet the dominant Invicta champion inside the Octagon. Well, that is according to head coach Mike Winkeljohn anyway

“Cris ‘Cyborg’ is just incredible with her strength and with what she can so”, he told TalkingBrawls “I don’t know if she can make the weight at 135 pounds yet. She’s got a lot of holes in her game, a lot of craziness. That girl is so strong, so we’d have to be worried about it. But Holly would fight her in a heartbeat.”

Bantamweight contender Miesha Tate has also expressed an interest in fighting Holm, and it is apparent that Holly isn’t particularly fussed who she faces; she just wants to defend her title.

“I’ll tell you what: Holly has never turned down a fight before in her life,” said Winkeljohn. “It won’t be on Holly’s terms if she turns down a fight, unless she retires. Holly will fight anybody, anywhere. She’s that tough, mentally. She believes in herself and what she can do.”

The rematch between Holm and Rousey is rumoured for UFC 200 which will take place in the all-new arena currently under construction in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Endless UFC and MMA obsessive, Chris adores the intense world of this sport - both inside and outside the Octagon. He is also a cinema devotee and has carved an elongated career in film criticism across both online and print media. He hopes you all read this bio in your best Bruce Buffer voice...
