Conor McGregor beats Jose Aldo in 13 seconds; unifies the UFC Featherweight championship

Conor McGregor is the undisputed UFC featherweight champion of the world.

The Dubliner knocked out long reigning champion Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds this Saturday night in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

McGregor looked loose and confident as a huge Irish contingent welcomed him into the arena. Aldo, on the other hand, looked in the zone but slightly nervous before the unification bout.

As soon as it started it was over.

McGregor, as always, came out swinging hard and dove for the middle of the octagon while Aldo did the same as they battled for the front foot.

And then it came. Aldo threw a huge left hand which connected but McGregor’s left hook, which also landed flush, was the bigger blow and flattened Aldo.

McGregor immediately jumped to the floor and threw rapid hammerfists, but it was really already done, as referee John McCarthy jumped in and stopped the fight.

With the win over the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, McGregor becomes the first ever Irish UFC world champion.
