CM Punk debut against Mickey Gall confirmed for UFC 203

After nearly two years since the UFC announced the signing of CM Punk, the former professional wrestler finally has a date set for his debut inside the Octagon.

Punk, real name Phil Brooks, will take on Mickey Gall on September 10th at UFC 203. The bout will take place in the welterweight division. The news was first broken by Ariel Helwani and later confirmed by Punk on the UFC unfiltered podcast.

A former multiple time belt holder in the WWE, Punk has been training with Duke Roufus in Minnesota since early 2015. The Chicago native had no previous MMA experience.

His opponent, Mickey Gall, was found via Dana White’s latest reality show “lookin’ for a fight.” After his appearance on the show he took on, and beat, Mike Jackson at UFC Fight Night 82 to earn his shot at the man nicknamed “The Best In The World.”

As of now, Gall is a huge favourite to win with the bookmakers.

UFC 203 takes place at the Q Arena in Cleveland on September 10th and will be headlined by the heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem.
