Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson has responded to comments made by UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. The pair throw-down for the welterweight title at UFC 205 in New York. The challenger has hit back claiming the champion is just talking thrash to promote the fight.

Woodley’s comments were in retaliation to Thompson’s claims that the champion was scared to fight him, but Thompson believes Woodley is trying to play mind games with the challenger. Thompson joined Niall on this weeks’ Talking Brawls on Severe MMA (available Thursday) to speak about the upcoming bout.

“First of all, that’s just stupid talk, for real. The guy doesn’t even know me. What have I done to him to make him not respect me as a man? You know what I mean? That’s just stupid talk. I think he’s talking out of his butt, trying to hype the fight up, maybe he’s trying to get in my head a little bit.

The South Carolina native is currently training with Chris Weidman (who is also schedule to fight on the UFC 205 card against Yoel Romero) believes the Champion has zero chance of getting in his head, merely laughing off the comments.

“It’s not going to work. I laugh at that, come on now. I think it is just nonsense”

Speaking on the on the Anik and Florian podcast, the 170lbs champion also claimed he doesn’t respect Thompson as a man. Woodley went on to add he was angered about comments made by Thompson about not wanting to fight him. Thompson says he couldn’t care less about Tyron’s comments and is predicting to end the debate on November 12.

“You know what? It doesn’t bother me one bit. I’m going to go out there, put my foot upside his head and that’s going to be the end of it.”
