Paul Felder “super excited” to be fighting close to home against Gilbert Burns at UFC 208

Paul Felder vs Gilbert Burns has been confirmed for UFC 208 in Brooklyn, New York.

The pair will throw down in a lightweight clash at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on February 11, 2017.

Felder (12-3) is coming off a TKO loss (doctor stoppage) against Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia, Brazil last September.

The former CFFC lightweight champion sustained a severe cut and fracture in the bout and was only cleared to return last month.

The “Irish Dragon” expressed his delight to SevereMMA.com about being added to a card so close to his hometown.

“I’m super excited to even be on that card. It really didn’t even matter who they [UFC] offered, we were ready to take that fight.”

The Philly native is unbeaten on the east coast, going 9-0 in the process.

Burns also fought on the UFC Fight Night card last September, losing via decision against Michael Prazares. “Durinho” (12-2) is know for his excellent ground skills, winning 8 of his 12 pro victories by submission.

Felder feels the fight is a good match up for him, as long as he keeps the fight standing: “I think Gilbert is an incredibly tough opponent, but a good match up for us. We just gotta keep it on the feet, keep the distance. I’m just happy to be there man.”

The headline bout for UFC 208 is yet to be officially confirmed.
