KSW 48 Preview

KSW brings it’s cage to Lublin, Poland for the first time, bringing an 8 fight card to the Hala Globus arena next Saturday, April 27th. The 4000 capacity arena is located 2.5hrs south east of the Polish capital Warsaw.

The main event is an interim featherweight title fight, featuring one of the hottest prospects in Europe, Salahdine Parnasse (12-0-1). This could potentially be the last chance to see the man from Aubervilliers before he is signed by a major US promotion. The Parisian will be looking to get his first finish under the KSW banner, after earning 3 decision victories in his previous outings.

Fellow prospect Roman Szymański (11-4) is looking to spoil the party. The 25 year old boxer from Kostrzyn is no stranger to the big KSW show, winning 3 of his 4 fights in the promotion.

Szymański’s only KSW defeat came against a common opponent, former 145lb champion “The Polish Zombie” Marcin Wrzosek at KSW 41. Parnasse was able to beat The Zombie in a unanimous decision. With the interim title on the line, and with only 1 KSW finish between them (Roman Szymański’s 3rd round buzzer beating rear naked choke on Sebastian Romanowski), it looks like this is going to be a 5 round war.

The co-main features veterans Łukasz Jurkowski (16-11) and KSW debutant Stjepan Bekavac (19-9). The Croatian kickboxer Bekavac is looking to snap a 3 fight skid against the Tae Kwon Do specialist Jurkowski, who himself is looking to get back to winning ways after a defeat to Martin Zawada last time out. This fight is likely to be a stand up affair that can end at any time.

Another Croatian also makes his first appearance in KSW, Filip “Nitro” Pejić (13-2-2). He’s on a 3 fight win streak and is looking to make it 4 against Kraków boxer Filip “Wolan” Wolański (11-3). Wolan lost a close split decision against Daniel Torres at KSW 44. With the interim title on the line in the main event, both men will be out to make a statement to get a shot at the strap.

Kickboxer Gracjan Szadziński (8-2) is back in action in the lightweight division. Irish fans will know him as the man who defeated Paul “Redser” Redmond in Gdansk at KSW 44. The dangerous striker is searching for a fourth stoppage in a row against Marian Ziółkowski (20-7-1). A win for Gracjan will put him right in the title picture for double champ Mateusz “Gamer” Gamrot’s lightweight title.

Elsewhere on the card, Karate stylist Michał Michalski (6-4) takes on newcomer Miloš Janičić (11-2), undefeated Russian Shamil Musaev (12-0) faces Hubert Szymajda (8-2), undefeated Pole Cezary Kęsik (8-0) squares off against Jakub Kamieniarz (7-5) and Romanian Bogdan Barbu (15-9) competes against Sebastian Przybysz (4-2).

KSW 48 comes live from the Hala Globus arena in Lublin next Saturday, April 27th. Fans unable to make it in person are able to watch the action for €5 on KSWTV.com. The action kicks off at 18:00 Irish time.
