Rhys McKee is scheduled to take on Alex Morono in a welterweight contest on Saturday 14th November at UFC Fight Night 183, which will take place in the UFC’s Apex Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The matchup was first reported by MMA Junkie, and SevereMMA confirmed the report with McKee this morning.

Ballymena’s McKee (10-3-1) will look to secure his first victory in the world’s leading MMA promotion. The Next Generation I.M.M.A. fighter made his UFC debut on short notice back in July, accepting a fight against Chechen-born Swedish wrecking ball, Khamzat Chimaev, just 6 days prior to their meeting on “Fight Island.” Unfortunately for McKee, it wasn’t the fairytale debut he may have hoped for, as Chimaev dominated the action before referee Rich Mitchell stepped in to wave the fight off shortly after the 3-minute mark of round 1.

Those who have closely followed McKee’s career know that the Chimaev fight wasn’t a true reflection of “Skeletor.” McKee has been widely regarded as the best prospect in Ireland in recent years, and the former BAMMA champion will have a point to prove in his sophomore UFC outing. McKee has notched stoppages in all 10 of his professional wins, with 7 KOs and 3 submissions to date. The Irishman will be looking to add to that record as he takes on UFC veteran Alex Morono.

The American Morono (17-6, 1 NC) fights out of Fortis MMA in Dallas, Texas. “The Great White” is a 10-fight UFC veteran, with 6 wins under the promotional banner, and the Houston native has notched 8 first-round finishes to date in his career. Simply put, Morono is never in a boring fight. However, the Taekwondo black belt has struggled to find consistency in the UFC. After amassing a 3-fight win streak across 2018 and 2019, Morono was dispatched in just 27 seconds by then UFC debutant Khaos Williams at UFC 247 back in February. Like McKee, Morono will be looking to bounce back into the win column when the pair enter the Octagon.

Fans can expect an entertaining welterweight matchup between two fighters who are no strangers to standing and trading blows when Rhys McKee and Alex Morono compete on Saturday 14th November.
