UFC 266 – Severe MMA Staff Predictions

The Severe MMA team are back once again to share our PPV main card predictions!

Forget about the women’s flyweight championship! Forget about the featherweight championship! 209 is in the building. NICK. DIAZ. IS. BACK!

After 6 years of inactivity and a disgraceful (and now overturned) ban for marijuana usage, the pride of Stockton, California, Nick Diaz finally returns to the UFC to rematch Robbie Lawler in a welterweight middleweight contest. Will he look like the old Nick? Probably not. Does he even want to be here? Who really knows. Should this fight be happening? Irrelevant. Ultimately, Nick Diaz has returned and unsurprisingly is still the cult hero he once was. Fans will be tuning in across the world for the people’s main event.

No disrespect to the champions, but Saturday night is the Diaz show. That being said, there’s a mouth-watering main event between 145-lbs king Alexander Volkanovski as he defends his title against fellow TUF coach Brian Ortega. While in the co-main event, flyweight Queen Valentina Shevchenko looks to continue to reaffirm her legacy as one of the baddest women to even step inside a cage when she defends against challenger Lauren Murphy.

For now, check out our UFC 266 main card picks, and let us know who you’re taking! Look, I’ve tried to give these other clowns a chance, but my reign at the top of the picks leaderboard will likely continue for years to come. Jon Jones? Demetrious Johnson? GSP? All incredible winners, but there’s only one GOAT around these here parts when it comes to picking UFC PPV winners, and his name is Andy Stevenson.

For that reason, I’m taking a punt on Nick Diaz and T City this weekend. I mean I need to give these losers a chance to catch up somehow right?
