Taka Mhandu vs. Nicholas Hwende set for EFC 90

Taka Mhandu (1-0) is set to compete on the upcoming EFC 90 show which is set to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on November 6. “The Cat” will come up against fellow South African Nicholas Hwende (1-0) in what will be his second professional fight, and the second time he will fight under the EFC banner.

The Team KF stand out competed only last month at EFC 89 where he put together a dominating debut performance against Asiashu Tshitamba (4-3). Mhandu dominated large portions of that contest against a much more experienced opponent and did enough to take home the decision on the scorecards. The dust has barely settled on that impressive victory and now the 23-year old bantamweight will focus his attention to Hwende who was victorious on his professional debut at EFC 89.

Nicholas Hwende racked up an impressive 4-1 amatuer record before making the jump to the professional ranks. He produced a stunning knockout win over Themba Mkhize to make it a successful professional debut for the South African. Fans can expect this encounter to be a battle between two dynamic strikers and this fight has fireworks written all over it.

Taka spoke to SevereMMA about his excitement about a quick turnaround and shared some thoughts on his upcoming opponent.

“I am ecstatic to get the chance to get back in and compete. It’s only been 3 weeks since my last fight and I felt great so why not go again so soon? I feel like I’m going to be a lot more familiar with the setup and surroundings which will just make me more calm and aware while I’m in the cage, that’s always been superpower in the craziness of it all, and I expect this will give me the openings for my first finish with EFC.”

“The Cat” gave props to his opponent but ultimately the Team KF man can only see the fight going one way.

“Nicholas is a fellow Zim, he’s a solid fighter and dangerous everywhere by the looks of it which is perfect challenge for the second fight of my career. He’s going to be very up for the challenge but I’m going in there to finish him, I don’t see this going any other way.”

EFC 90 takes place on Saturday, November 6, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The PPV event can be purchased on www.efcworldwide.com.
