Matiss Zaharovs believes he can break and finish Borislav Nikolic at BRAVE CF 56

Rising prospect Matiss Zaharovs (4-1) will return to the cage this month for his fourth bout under the BRAVE CF banner. So far he has travelled to Bahrain and Romania for fights with the promotion and will be adding another country to that list when he lands in Serbia for BRAVE CF 56.

Zaharovs has continued to impress since turning pro, winning four on the bounce before being on the wrong side of the judge’s scorecards last time out. His four-fight win streak saw him dismantle each opponent until he got the finish. Taking out highly touted prospects in Hussain Maki and Bilal Tipsaev with exceptional striking that he’s been renowned for since his amateur days.

After losing his sole bout this year back in March, he hopes to come back with a bang by finishing hometown fighter Borislav Nikolic. The Serbian fighter boasts an 8-1 record, the loss coming against SBG Ireland fighter Brad Katona at BRAVE CF 50.

Speaking with Severe MMA ahead of his fight, Zaharovs explained that he has been eager to get a fight in before the year was out and wants a more active 2022.

“The plan was to get one more fight on before the year was out either with BRAVE or some other promotion.”

“I would have been disappointed if I didn’t get a fight before the year was out as I only had 1 fight this year. Hopefully, now that I’m signed to MTK MMA, I’ll be a lot more active in 2022 and beyond.”

The Bantamweight fighter has consistently faced fighters that come from Wrestling backgrounds. So this one will be a little different. Having recently travelled to Ukraine to build up his experience in a Wrestling tournament, he wants to add that to this mix in this fight. Combined with his striking ability he promises a spectacle for the fans and is confident he can finish him.

“This fight will be very good to watch. It’s going to be my second opponent out of 5 fights to not be a wrestler so I’m excited to showcase my striking skills against this guy while also mixing in a little bit of the wrestling I’ve been working on.

“We could be looking at a possible TKO finish in the later rounds either by ground and pound or on the feet, we’ll see how the fight plays out but I’ll be fully ready for whatever he has to offer. I know he has a snappy jab and is a bit wild with his shots but he hasn’t come up against anyone like me who throws vicious head kicks, has power in the hands and cardio. With all these things putting pressure on him I believe I’ll break him and finish.”
