Video: Dean Barry Prepares for UFC Debut, Predicts 1st-Round KO of Mike Jackson

Dean “The Sniper” Barry is predicting a 1st-round KO over Mike “The Truth” Jackson when the Irishman makes his UFC debut on Saturday 23rd April.

Speaking to SevereMMA.com at his new home in Team Ryano, Barry (4-1) emphasized the need to make a statement over journalist/part-time fighter Jackson (0-1, 1NC) when the pair lock horns inside the UFC’s Apex arena:

“I want to go out here and finish him and make a statement, really!” Barry told SevereMMA.com.

Signed to the UFC with just a 3-1 record in November 2020, the Dubliner was originally scheduled to face Jackson on “Fight Island” in January 2021. However, the fight fell apart due to the American being unable to compete. When it was subsequently rebooked, visa issues forced Barry out, and it seemed his UFC dream was over.

Former opponent of CM Punk, Jackson will make his return to the UFC almost 4 years after facing the professional wrestling superstar. While Barry acknowledges that all opponents are dangerous, he’s also aware that Jackson is somewhat of a lay-up matchup heading into his debut:

“It’s a weird one. I almost feel a bit eased that it’s Mike for my debut, but I also feel pressure. I’m battling two sides here.”

“He has nothing to lose, but can you imagine if I went out and got starched by Mike Jackson on my UFC debut?! I’ll move to China somewhere and change my name, grow my hair, and I’ll never speak to anyone again! I’ll delete all my accounts!” Barry proclaimed.

Despite the pressure, the Team Ryano fighter is confident in a stoppage victory come Saturday 23rd April.

“1st round knockout, as always! Hopefully inside 2 minutes. That’s what I’m feeling. I have a weird feeling I’m going to head kick him.”
