2022 World Championships: Day 1 Results and Day 2 Schedule for Team Ireland

The 2022 IMMAF World Championships are underway and Ireland had a mixed start to the competition on the opening day.

Jake Ngai was originally scheduled to compete. However, his due to his opponent missing weight he received a bye to next round. In contrast, Marco Cardillo was also due to be in action, but was unable to make the welterweight limit and subsequently exited the competition.

Ronan Deegan was the first of the Irish to enter the cage against New Zealand’s Kasib Murdoch. It wasn’t his day though, and he lost on points the strong kiwi fighter who will now compete in the round of 16.

Jordan Bradshaw was on much later in the day in the lightweight division against Kyrgyzstan’s Maksudov Orozali. It was a phenomenal performance from Bradshaw, taking the fight to his opponent from the opening bell. His fight IQ was evident as he mixed in his shots nicely with some slick ground work, which saw him nearly secure a plethora of submissions throughout the bout.

The finished didn’t come, but Bradshaw left with three rounds of experience in the tank along with a win via unanimous decision, as he progresses the to next round.

Kerry Ann Vernon vs. Mercedes Custodio Lopez (Spain) – Cage 4, Fight 14

Jordan Bradshaw vs. Shane Collins (USA) – Cage 4, Fight 25
