John Mitchell to Face Geysim Derouiche in PFL Debut

Ireland’s John Mitchell (6-1) is set to face France’s Geysim Derouiche (6-2) in the opening round of the PFL Europe lightweight season on Saturday 8th July at Verti Music Hall in Berlin, Germany. Multiple sources with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the news with SevereMMA.com.

Mitchell enters the PFL riding a two-fight win streak. With 4 stoppages to his name as a professional, the Corkonian is a proven finisher. Now training out of Dubai, Mitchell most recently scored a first-round TKO over Srikant Sekhar (7-6) at Matrix Fight Night 11 in India.

Derouiche will also be making his PFL debut. The Frenchman is undefeated since 2017, and is experienced in multiple striking disciplines, in addition to MMA. Though 6-2 in the cage, Derouiche is also undefeated at 5-0 as a professional boxer. “Zidane” most recently competed in MMA in July 2021, defeating Victor Verchere (5-0) via Unanimous Decision at Trophee des Etoiles 15.

Mitchell vs Derouiche is set to be a regular season matchup at PFL Europe 2, an event that will feature the regular season matchups for the inaugural PFL Europe lightweight and bantamweight seasons. The winners on the night will advance to the playoffs on 30th September in Paris, France. The winners at that event will then progress to the championship showdowns in Dublin on 8th December, where the inaugural PFL Europe champions will be crowned, with each champion taking home $100,000.
