Sara McMann vs Leah McCourt Set For Bellator 300

A clash of top-5 ranked featherweights has been added to Bellator 300.

Per sources, Sara McMann (#2) is set to face Leah McCourt (#5) on Saturday 7th October at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

McCourt (7-3) will be hoping to return to winning ways. The 31-year-old Belfast fighter—who now trains out of Next Generation Liverpool—most recently suffered a decision loss to Cat Zingano at Bellator 293 in March. Despite the defeat, “The Curse” exhibited one of the best performances of her career to date.

Meanwhile, McMann (14-6) will be aiming to kick on from her dominant Bellator debut earlier this year. The 42-year-old former Olympic silver medalist and UFC title contender comprehensively beat Arlene Blencowe over three rounds at Bellator 294 in April.

Adding to the stakes of McMann vs McCourt, the women’s featherweight division will be in the spotlight on 7th October.

Last week on The MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani reported that 4 title fights would top Bellator’s historic 300th event. Notably, featherweight champion Cris Cyborg makes her long awaited return to the cage, defending her 145lbs throne versus former UFC title contender, “Alpha” Cat Zingano.
