Andy Young: “He has never fought anyone with my experience, power or speed”

Northern Ireland’s Andy ‘Taz’ Young faces Spanish prospect Daniel Barez in the co-main event of BAMMA 32 and the current BAMMA Interim Flyweight champ believes his all round game is more than enough to trouble Spaniard Daniel Barez on Friday night.

Fresh from two consecutive stoppages over Ukraine’s Alexander Barabash and Dominique Wooding, Young has really caught the eye of the MMA community nationwide ahead of his title bout.

In an interview with Severe MMA, Andy was notably comfortable and excited with the prospect of facing someone like Barez.

“Barez is certainly game, he’s tough and has an exciting style, I like opponents who tend to bring it”.

With a record of 11-8, Andy Young certainly hasn’t shied away from his setbacks and defeats, but rather learned considerably from them to develop as a mixed martial artist.

“They have all been instrumental to me. We all have different fighting paths. Fighting up and down through weight divisions and losing razor thin decisions can definitely test your self confidence. By facing the adversity, setbacks and inner demons from them, overcoming them has made me so much stronger. I’ve been through it all and I’m able to overcome anything, developing an indomitable spirit”.

With preparation seemingly spot on for the Northern Irish fighter, ‘Taz’ gave us a confident pre fight prediction.

“Preparation for the fight has been fantastic, if I’m honest I’m at my best as a fighter and I’ve evolved in all areas of my game. I feel I will finish the fight in the opening two rounds, I see a lot of holes in his game, he has never fought anyone with my experience, power or speed. I will put my weapons to good use on Friday”.

When questioned about a possible rematch with former foe Dominique Wooding whom he submitted in his most recent walk, the Newtownards star highlighted his dominance over the Brit as a possible deterrent to a second meeting. Wooding of course also features on the BAMMA 32 card, facing SBG’s Blaine O’Driscoll.

“I feel I beat Dominique in all areas, and I know he cuts a lot and struggles to make Flyweight and has since jumped to Bantamweight, but we will see down the line what happens”.

Confident of success ahead of his meeting with Barez, Young spoke of his commitments to Ukrainian promotion WWFC and his current contract situation with BAMMA.

“This is my last fight with BAMMA. I have my Flyweight title to defend in Ukraine with WWFC, which I hope to do before the end of the year. I’ll wait and see what is offered to me but make no mistake I’m ready for any Flyweight in the world. I know I have the tools to beat them all”.
