BAMMA announce ‘World Cup Fight Night’ featuring two title fights

BAMMA have today announced their latest fight night event, which is being billed as ‘BAMMA World Cup Fight Night’.

The show is set to take place after England’s final group game against Belgium on June 28th. The match coverage starts at 7pm and shortly after, the BAMMA show will air. The event will take place on ITV 4.

In the headliner of the card, BAMMA Lightweight Titleholder Rhys McKee puts his championship strap on the line as he faces current Welterweight Champion Terry Brazier. The fight will be for the BAMMA Lightweight Championship.

McKee (7-1-1) has contested all but one of his professional bouts under BAMMA, and is a two time lightweight titleholder. The Northern Irishman won the Lonsdale 155lbs strap with a first round starching of Jai Herbert, but was stopped in his tracks by Tim Barnett in his first defence. Since then, he fought to a draw with Richie Smullen before submitting Kams Ekpo, and eventually capturing the title back from the aforementioned Barnett. He was then promoted to world lightweight champion.

Brazier (9-1) will be making his first venture to lightweight; “The Dominator” has fought as high as the light heavyweight division. In his previous outing, he extended his winning streak to eight, taking a decision over Alex Lohore to capture the BAMMA Welterweight strap. The Englishman has a 4-0 record on BAMMA, with wins over names such as Walter Gahadza and Niklas Stolze.

The infamous York Hall in London will host the event; no additional fights have been added as of right now.
