Charlie Ward to face Galore Bofando at UFC Scotland

Charlie Ward will face UK based welterweight Galore Bofando in his second UFC outing on July 16 in Glasgow, as revealed by Peter Carroll in this morning’s Irish Daily Mirror.

Ward was called up for a shock UFC debut in Belfast last November where he lost in the first round to undefeated striking standout, Abdul Razak Alhassan.

Last month, Ward’s SBG teammate Conor McGregor took to social media claiming that the Irish welterweight would be given a second chance to impress in the Octagon in Glasgow. ‘The Notorious’ also insisted that Ward would not only have to win, but he would have to do so in dominant fashion.

“I am happy to announce that Charlie Ward will have his redemption fight on the UFC Scotland card,” he wrote on a post on his Instagram account.

“It is hard work and focus from here on in for him. He must not only win here. He must dominate. I am confident he will make things right and show his true fighting capabilities.”

Galore Bofando has a 4-2 record in professional MMA and has also competed as a professional kickboxer. A sport karate proponent, Bofando is probably best known for his spinning kick knockout of Wendle Lewis at UCMMA 28 in 2012. His two losses have come by disqualification due to illegal strikes.

Bofando’s last bout took place back in February 2015. He claimed a first round knockout over UK journeyman Kes Mamba.
