The 2022 UFC Fight Schedule

2021 saw some incredible drama play out in the Octagon, delighting fans everywhere and prompting a big surge in terms of UFC betting markets. With odds specialists launching new incentives for 2022, it’s time to look ahead at the rest of the year’s schedule, as well as recap the key highlights of the first quarter of the year.

Jan to March in the UFC

2022 got off to a bang with UFC 270 at Anaheim’s Honda Centre in California. On the undercard, Michael Pereira took the win over Andre Fialho, but it was the main event that caused the biggest noise.

Outclassing challenger Ciryl Gane in every way, Francis Ngannou won by unanimous decision and retained his title of the UFC Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Less than a month later, at the Toyota Centre, Houston, Israel Adesanya outperformed Robert Whittaker and secured his reign as Middleweight Champion.

The promotion also made a welcome return to London in mid-March, with UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs Aspinall. Making his first appearance under the UFC banner in front of a live crowd, our own Tom Aspinall only needed one round to make quick work of heavyweight contender, Alexander Volkov.

Key Fights for 2022

Following her shock defeat and loss of the bantamweight belt to Julianna Pena at UFC 269, the former queen of two divisions, Amanda Nunes, will surely seek revenge this year. Although nothing’s been confirmed as yet, we can expect a rematch between the two to happen before the summer’s out.

Islam Makhachev, meanwhile, is determined to follow in the footsteps of cornerman Khabib Nurmagomedov by claiming the lightweight belt. After “smashing through” his most recent opponents, Makhachev has declared his next fight will be a championship bout.

We can also look forward to a unification fight in the men’s bantamweight division, with a bout between interim champion Petr Yan and titleholder, Aljamai Sterling on the horizon.
